Today we are sharing some Ramadan Tips with you. Ramadan is a perfect opportunity for making new changes and adapting to a healthier lifestyle. This year Muslims in the UK will experience the longest fast for 33 years, with the fasting day lasting about 16-19 hours (depending on your UK location).  It is therefore important that balanced foods and drinks are eaten during the pre-dawn meal (Suhoor) and meal at dusk (Iftar) to replenish your energy stores and rehydrate.

Here are our top tips for eating healthy during Ramadan (Ramadan Tips):

  1. Don’t skip the pre-dawn meal(suhoor) The suhoor meal should be a wholesome and moderate meal that is filling and provides energy for the fasting hours ahead- so it’s an important one not to miss out on. Below are a few examples of what to eat:
  • Oats, porridge or muesli – choose plain and unsweetened varieties
  • Breads such as pitta bread, naan or toast – choose wholegrain options as these provide more fibre.
  • Breakfast cereals – choose high fibre varieties and those that are lower in salt and sugar. Most breakfast cereals are fortified with vitamins and minerals providing you with extra nutrients.
  • Yoghurt or milk – choose low fat versions e.g. semi skimmed
  • Eggs – fried, poached, scrambled or soft-boiled with soldiers, eggs are packed with protein that will help stave off hunger.
  • Fruit- try adding fresh fruit or dried foods such as dates or figs to your breakfast cereal.
  1. Have a light and simple (iftar) meal

You don’t need to break your fast with a huge feast -Ramadan (Ramadan Tips) is not about over indulgence. The iftar meal isn’t supposed to make up those hours you spent without food. The meal should be simple and should not differ too much from our everyday meal.

Break your fast with dates which contain natural sugars, a quick energy source your body needs after fasting.  Start with simple, light foods such as soups or fruit before moving on to your main meal.


  1. Base your meals on complex carbohydrates and fiber rich foods The suhoor and iftar meal varies between different cultures but try to make sure that the foods you eat are based on complex carbohydrates and high fibre foods. These foods will help to release energy slowly during the long hours of fasting and hopefully make you feel fuller for longer. Complex carbohydrate foods include barley, wheat, oats, semolina, beans, lentils (daals), whole meal flour (chapattis) and basmati rice. Fiber-rich foods are also digested slowly and include bran, cereals, whole wheat, grains and seeds, potatoes with the skin on, vegetables such as green beans, and almost all fruit, including apricots, prunes and figs.

  1. Avoid processed and fatty foods (Ramadan Tips)

Although processed foods can be convenient, they usually contain high levels of fat, salt and sugar, everything we need to be limiting in our diet.  So avoid snacking on junk foods such as chips, sweets, chocolate during Ramadan.

  • Deep fried foods such as samosas, fried dumplings, and fried chicken
  • High sugar and high fat foods/drinks such as cakes, biscuits, chocolates, sweetened fizzy drinks, syrup drinks and sweets such as baklava and Indian/Pakistani mithai

  1. Cut down on sugar

Ramadan is a good time to try and cut down on your sugar intake.  Many packaged foods and drinks contain high amounts of sugar. Swap your sugary breakfast cereal for plain porridge or whole-wheat cereals or mueslis with no added sugar. Swap sweets or chocolates with fruit or dried fruit such as dates.  If you can’t resist, then eat a small portion.

If you are used to adding salt during cooking, try to gradually reduce the amount you add and use herbs and spices instead to flavor foods. Most of our salt intake comes from processed foods so remember to check the labels when out shopping and choose lower salt versions.  Avoid salty snacks as pickles, salted nuts and cheese pasties.

Try making your meals by cooking from scratch. It’s also a great way to share food dishes in Ramadan with your friends, family and neighbors. Eye wash is the most important thing one should go for. You should wash your beautiful eyes at a regular interval of time. you should sprinkle cold water in your eyes in the morning and evening time. The eyes should be dried with clean towel. You can maintain perfect eyesight for most of your life by following some simple remedies.

  • Avoid reading books of fine prints and cover your beautiful eyes in moving vehicles.
  • Dropping 2 or 3 drops of Tulsi leaves in eyes would be beneficial.
  • Apply cream around the beautiful eyes patting with the fingers so that the liquid trapped in the tissues should get out and circulate.
  • Morning rays are cool and good for eyes,stand for five minutes in the gentle morning rays.
  • Every morning after waking up, fill your mouth with water, close the eyes and sprinkle water on them about 10-15 times.
  • Take a barefoot walk on grass at the morning time.

Start your morning with a glass of fresh unsweetened coconut water. And throughout the day drink filtered water. At meals include skin-hydrating foods such as wild salmon, avocado, olives, and coconut.

Enjoy several servings per week of wild salmon and seafood and consider taking a supplement every day, especially during sunny times of the year. You’ll also want to protect your skin on the outside with a natural sun protector.

Many exfoliants contain abrasive ingredients that scratch your skin which can damage your skin and speed aging. Instead, it’s better to use an enzymatic exfoliant. Papaya contains the natural enzyme papain and pineapple contains the enzyme bromelain, which helps naturally exfoliate the skin, leaving it smooth and soft. Greener (unripe) papayas have higher amounts of papain, so opt for these to get the best exfoliation. If you have sensitive skin, use ripe papayas because they’re less likely to trigger an inflammatory reaction.

Scoop out a ¼ cup raw papaya flesh, mash or blend with 1 Tablespoon fresh pineapple until smooth. Apply to your dry face and leave on for 5 to 15 minutes. Then rinse with cool water. If you have sensitive skin, do a patch test on your arm before applying to face.

The alpha hydroxy acids and the enzymes in this recipe dissolve dry, dead skin. You only need to do this once or twice per week.

In a bowl, blend together 1/4 cup oat flour (ground uncooked oats), 2 Tablespoons unsweetened yogurt and ¼ of an avocado. Mix well and then apply enough to cover your clean, dry face. Leave on face for 10 to 20 minutes and then remove with warm, wet washcloth, and then rinse face with water and pat dry. Use the mask once per day as needed.

کہتے ہیں ’’ چائے اور کافی کا کوئی موسم نہیں ہوتا بلکہ اسے پینے کو جب دل چاہے تو بس وہی چائے کا موسم ہے ‘‘۔ تاہم موسم سرما اور چائے لازم و ملزم کی حیثیت رکھتے ہیں ۔ اس کی وجہ اس منفرد مشروب کی بدولت جسم میں پیدا ہونے والی حرارت ہے جو سردیوں کی منجمد کر دینے والی ہواؤں میں بھی ہمیں متحرک رہنے کی ہمت دیتی ہے۔

سردیوں کی ہر دل عزیز کشمیری چائے، جو ذائقے اور فوائد کے اعتبار سے بہت ہی اہمیت کی حامل ہے، موسم سرما میں جاڑے کی سرد ہواؤں میں گرما گرم کشمیری چائے سردیوں کا مزہ دوبالا کر دیتی ہے۔

کشمیری چائے کو خاص مواقع پر بنیادی طور پر استعمال کیا جاتا ہے، جیسے شادیوں میں جبکہ موسم سرما کے مہینوں کے دوران یہ بہت سی چھوٹی دکانوں پر فروخت کیا جاتا ہے.

اکثر ہماری خواتین کو یہ شکایت رہتی ہے کہ کشمیری چائے گھر میں ویسی نہیں بنتی جیسی بازار اور ریستوران میں ملتی ہے۔ اگر اس کے تمام اجزا اور مقدار ساتھ میں طریقہ کار کو ہم ٹھیک طرح سے ذہن میں رکھیں، تو ہم بازار اور ریستوران کا ذائقہ گھر میں ہی حاصل کر سکتے ہیں۔

کشمیری چائے کی بے حد آسان اور مختصر ترکیب دیکھیں۔

سبز چائے کی پتیاں – ایک کھانے کا چمچا

لونگ – چار عدد

دار چینی – ایک بڑا ٹکرا

چھوٹی الائچی- چار پانچ عدد

کھانے کا سوڈا – ایک چٹکی

نمک – ایک چٹکی

شکر – حسب ذائقہ

دودھ – ایک کلو

پانی – چار پیالی

بادام اور پستہ – حسب ذائقہ


ایک بڑے سوس پین میں پانی ڈالیں، اس کے بعد اس میں سبز چائے کی پتیاں، لونگ، دار چینی، الائچی اور نمک ڈال کر ابال لیں، جب پانی ابلنے لگے، تو اس میں سوڈا ڈال کر اچھی طرح پھینٹ لیں، یہاں تک کہ پانی کا رنگ سرخ ہو جائے۔

پھر اس کو اتنا پکائیں کہ پانی خشک ہو کر ایک پیالی رہ جائے۔

اس کے بعد اس میں دودھ اور چینی شامل کر کے پکائیں اور بادام اور پستے پیس کر اس میں شامل کردیں اور گرما گرم مزے دار کشمیری چائے کا لطف اٹھائیں۔

کشمیری چائے کے فوائد

کشمیری چائے میں موجود ہر اجزا سبز چائے، الائچی ، لونگ ، بادام ، پستے اور دودھ کی اپنی اہمیت اور افادیت ہیں، جن لوگوں کو دودھ پسند نہ ہو وہ کشمیری چائے کی صورت میں اس سے استفادہ کر سکتے ہیں۔

سبز چائے دنیا میں پی جانے والی زیادہ تر مشروبات میں سے ایک ہے، طبی ماہرین کے مطابق سبز چائے کا استعمال انسانی صحت کے لئے بہت ہی مفید ہے ، اس کے استعمال سے مختلف بیکٹیریا اور وائرس سے بچاؤ ممکن ہے، سبز چائے کا استعمال ذیابطیس اور دل کے امراض سمیت کئی بیماریوں سے بچاؤ میں مدد فراہم کرتا ہے۔


ہماری خوراک میں شامل غذا میں دودھ وہ واحد مشروب ہے جس میں تمام وٹامن موجود ہیں یہی وجہ ہے کہ دودھ ایک مکمل غذا کا کام دیتا ہے ایک گلاس دودھ جسم کو درکار تمام وٹامن فراہم کردیتا ہے، یہ توانائی کے حصول کا سب سے آسان ذریعہ ہے۔

دودھ میں موجود کیلشیم انسانی ہڈیوں کے لیے مفید ہے، جس سے جوڑوں،پسلیوں اور ہڈیوں کے درد میں افاقہ ہوتا ہے۔


لونگ چین اور بر صغیر میں قدیم زمانے سے استعمال ہو رہا ہے، لونگ میں بہت سی طبی خوبیاں ہیں۔ لونگ بادی پن دور کرتا ہے۔ اس میں ایسے اجزا پائے جاتے ہیں، جو خون کی گردش کو متوازن کرتے ہیں، جسم میں درجہ حرارت کو برقرار رکھتے ہیں۔ لونگ سے گلے کی خارش کو بھی افاقہ ہوتا ہے اور کھانسی میں مفید ہے، حلق کی سوزش بھی اس سے دور ہوتی ہے۔


الائچی کی خوش بو چائے کے ذائقے کو بڑھا دیتی ہے۔ اس سے بھی سانس کی نالی کی صفائی ہوتی ہے۔ چھوٹی الائچی سے جسم کو طاقت ملتی ہے اور ذہن ترو تازہ ہو جاتا ہے۔

دار  چینی

دارچینی کا ذائقہ قدرے شیریں اور تلخی ہوتاہے، دار چینی ہمارے جسم کے لیے مفید اور سردیوں کی بہت سی بیماریوں سے پیشگی تحفظ کا باعث ہے۔


بادام ایک من پسند میوہ ہے۔ برصغیر پاک و ہند میں زیادہ تر موسم سرما میں استعمال کیا جاتاہے۔ اس کی تاثیر گرم تر ہوتی ہے، جو دماغ کو طاقت اور نظر کو تیز کرتا ہے، یادشت بڑھاتا ہے اور کھانوں کی کئی اقسام میں یہ بہت ہی مفید اور فائدے مند ہے۔


پستہ بھی دوسرے میوہ جات کی طرح ایک قیمتی اور افادیت سے بھرپور میوہ ہے۔ اس کا مزاج بھی گرم تر ہوتا ہے۔ یہ بھی یادداشت بڑھانے میں مدد دیتا ہے اور دماغ کے لیے انتہائی بہتر ہے۔
